Team Ghana poised to shine at Commonwealth Games

The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Pious Hadzide has come up with a slogan for Team Ghana at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

According to him, Ghana was formerly known as Gold Coast and some people still refer to Ghana as the land of gold, hence adopting the catchphrase “From Gold Coast To Gold Coast For Gold”.

President of Greek club PAOK apologises after coming on to pitch with gun

The president of Greek club PAOK Salonika has apologised after he came on to the pitch with a gun during his side's match on Sunday.

Ivan Savvidis had a gun in a holster when he entered the field after PAOK had a late goal ruled out for offside.

The Greek Super League has been suspended and the European Club Association (ECA) has suspended PAOK.

"I am very sorry. I clearly had no right to enter the field of play in this fashion," said Savvidis.

Normalisation Committee postpone launch of Special Competition

The Ghana Football Association's Normalisation Committee has postponed the launch of the Special Competition with a new date set to be announced soon.

The launch of the new tournament was scheduled for Monday, 14th January 2019.

Mohammed Polo reveals five year plan to nurture talent

Ghanaian football legend Mohammed Polo believes the recent renovation work at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex will greatly aid his plans to help develop budding talent for the game of football.

The facility which has seen little maintenance since its completion in the 1970’s will be given a face-lift which will include a standard sized football pitch,a multipurpose gym,swimming pool and hostels to house national teams.

“I am already here with the youth and we are developing with the hope that a lot of them will come through.

“There is also the five year development plan which I am working on.

“This will happen through out the region and with this facility we can achieve a lot,” he revealed.

Man Utd come from 2-0 down to win at Crystal Palace

Kanté ‘fainted’ in dressing room after Chelsea training

N’Golo Kanté missed Chelsea’s visit to Manchester City on Sunday after fainting at the club’s training ground on Friday, according to reports.

The 26-year-old reportedly passed out after a training session at Cobham, and later underwent cardiology tests. Despite being initially cleared to play, Kanté felt unwell on Sunday morning and was left out of Antonio Conte’s squad.

As first reported by The Telegraph, the French midfielder was attended to by team doctors seconds after slumping over in the dressing room. After regaining consciousness, Kanté was sent to a specialist, who found no heart problems.

The incident is thought to have greatly alarmed Kanté’s team-mates at the time, and was brought into sharp relief by the news of Fiorentina captain Davide Astori’s sudden death on Sunday.

Jordan Ayew nominated for Swansea City award

The striker's purple patch of form has been rewarded with a place among the nominees for the Player of the Month gong.

Ghana international Jordan Ayew could win Swansea City's Player of the Month award for the second successive time after being shortlisted for February's honour.

The frontman is part of a three-man list, which also includes South Korea ace Ki Sung-Yueng and English midfielder Sam Clucas.
